  • Wednesday 11,16.00–18.00

What happens when we sit together and listen to each other’s stories, when we hold space for the voices, the breath and the silences of others?

Through storytelling, joik, somatic practice, video, performance and collective dialogue, this conversation will revolve around heritage, memory and care for the land grapples with personal and collective histories of inhabiting and relating to landscapes. It opens up a mode of encounter that cultivates a horizontal approach.

Katarina Skår Lisa and Otto Ramstad engage with specific landscapes in Norway as a source of knowledge and memory, as well as a co-creator of movement. During Oslo Internasjonale Teaterfestival, they are gathering for the double bill ARV OG LANDSKAP (Heritage and Landscape), where they each present their performances. Exploring somatic practice, experimental dance and creative genealogy, Lineage by American choreographer Otto Ramstad retraces the steps of his great-grandfather who emigrated from Norway to the United States in 1911. Through a tangible connection to the land, Otto literally tries to unearth how it felt to live in the body of a rural metalworker in Skjåk. Gift of Stone, by Norwegian Sámi choreographer Katarina Skår Lisa, is rooted in the cosmology and practices of the Sea Sámis. Through a quest for Skår Lisa’s great-great-grandmother’s story, the installation and performance is nourished by a collective pool of affects, narratives and memories anchored in Sápmi.

With the participation of Otto Ramstad, Katarina Skår Lisa, textile artist Ramona Salo Myrseth, scholar Brita Polland, joiker and composer Georg Buljo, and facilitated by writer and art critic Nayla Naoufal.
